දකුණු පළාතේ පටන් ගැන්මත් බස්නාහිර පළාතේ අවසානයත් සනිටුහන් කරනා, රුහුණු දොරටුව ලෙසින් ප්‍රචලිත බෙම්තොට නොහොත් බෙන්තොට නොහොත් බෙන්තර ගැන තමා අද ඡායාරූප පෙළගැස්ම.

බෙන්තොට 

එක් පසෙකින් බෙන්තර ගඟත් අනෙක් පසින් නිල්වන් වෙරළ තීරයත් සමග බෙන්තොට යනු විදේශීය සංචාරකයන්ගේ නොමඳ ආකර්ෂණයට ලක් වූ ප්‍රදේශයක්.

දකුණේ ඈයින්ට ඔච්චම් කරද්දි ගොඩක් ඈයෝ ඒ බව නොකියා කියන්නේ බෙන්තර ගඟත් ගාවගෙන. "බෙන්තර ගඟෙන් එගොඩ ගොඩේ සිට බළල් පැටවකු ගෙනතොත් ඇස් අරින්න ඉස්සර වෙලා ගෙනෙන්ට ඕනෑලූ" කියන කියමන හැදිලා තියෙන්නෙත් ඒ හන්දයි. ඔය කියමනම තව විදිහකට "බෙන්තර ගඟෙන් එගොඩ සිට ඇස් නොඇරපු බළල් පැටියෙක්වත් ගෙනෙන්නට එපා" කියලත් කියනවා. ඒ වගේම තමා "මං බෙන්තර ගඟෙන් එගොඩ" කියලා කියන තවත් ඈයෝ බෙන්තර ගඟ පාවිච්චි කරන්නේ තමන් දකුණෙයි කියලා ඉස්මතු කරන්න. ලංකාවේ මිනිස්සුන්ට බෙදෙන්න නම් ඉතින් ගඟක් උනත් ඇති. ලංකාවේ කොච්චර ගංගා තිබුණත් මේ විදිහට අනුන්ට අපහාසයට උපහාසයට ඒ වගේම තමන්ගේ ආඩම්බරයට පාවිච්චි කරන වෙනත් ගඟක් නැති තරම්. ඒත් ඔය කිසිම ඔච්චමක් ගණන් ගන්නේ නැතුව එගොඩ ඉවුරේ ඉඳන් මෙගොඩටත්, මෙගොඩ ඉවුරේ ඉඳන් එගොඩටත්, පාලම උඩිනුත්, පාලම යටිනුත්, පීනන්න පුළුවන්වුණු සමර්ථයෝ ඒ කාලෙත් හිටියා, තාමත් ඉන්නවා.

This luxury beach resort has a heritage dating back to the 60s, when it was first expertly designed by one of Asia’s most influential architects, Geoffrey Manning Bawa.

The hotel was set on a mound between the river and the sea on the site of a former Dutch fort.

According to New York Times published in 1982 February 14, pg 9, A Visitors Guide to Sri Lanka, it says...

"Bentota - A beach resort, 36 miles from Colombo.
Hotels at Bentota - There are two modern motels, the Ceysands ($40) and the Bentota Beach Hotel ($54)."

Now known as Cinnamon Bentota Beach Hotel

බෙන්තර ගඟ උඩින් දිවෙන, දකුණු ප්‍රදේශයේ ප්‍රධාන පිවිසුම් දොරටුව ලෙස සලකන, ප්‍රසිද්ධ බෙන්තර පාලම ඉදිවෙන්නේ 1902දී. රජයේ කර්මාන්තශාලාවේ ඉංජිනේරු  ඊ. සී ඩේවිස්ගේ නිර්මාණයක් ලෙස තමයි මේ යකඩ පාලම ඉදි කරන්නේ. අද වෙනකොට නම් අලුත් පාලමක් තියන හන්දා පරණ පාලම වැඩි පාවිච්චියක් නැතිව ඔහේ තියනවා.
