"Most societies place importance on preserving artifacts of their culture and heritage. Without such artifacts, civilization has no memory and no mechanism to learn from its successes and failures."

Gradually our culture is inclined to produce more and more artifacts in digital form. This is due to the technology now being easily accessible for general public to create digital artifacts. Most people are tend to use this type of digital creations than the other forms. These creations can be accessed without any geographical and time barriers. Also with creations in digital form, the task of searching is much easier.

The mission of this project is to preserve the historical artifacts (written work and visual work) created in the British Ceylon Colonial period, by converting them into more understandable digital form. We basically aim on translating the public domain literature not yet admired by the ordinary Sinhalese community, with showcasing the vintage visuals.

We wish to collaborate with the people who are interested in joining with this community project, to share the effort on behalf of the future generations. Your motivation and guidance is warmly welcome.

කෙමෙන් කෙමෙන් අප සංස්කෘතිය ඩිජිටල් ආකෘතියේ මානවකෘති නිර්මාණයහි ලා වැඩි නැඹුරුවක් දක්වයි. මන්දයත් දැන් ඩිජිටල් මානවකෘති නිර්මාණය සඳහා වන තාක්ෂණය ඉතා පහසුවෙන් ලබා ගත හැකි නිසාය. බොහෝ පුද්ගලයින් වැඩි ආශාවක් දක්වන්නේ ද මෙවන් නිර්මාණ පරිහරණය කිරීමටයි. එයට කාලය හා ස්ථානය බාදාවක් නොවේ. එමෙන්ම ඉතා පහසුවෙන් අවශ්‍ය කරන සෙවීම ද ඉන් කල හැක. 

මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතියේ මූලික අරමුණ වන්නේ බ්‍රිතාන්‍ය යටත් විජිත යුගයේ දී ප්‍රකාශයට පත්වුණු, ආදි ලංකාව (Ceylon) සහ අප සංස්කෘතික උරුමයන් පිළිබඳ ලියවුනු, පැරණි ග්‍රන්ථ (books in public domain) සංරක්ෂණය හා පහසුවෙන් මේවායේ අන්තර්ගතය සාමාන්‍ය මහජනයා හට ලබා ගැනීමට ඇති හැකියාව පුළුල් කිරීමයි. මෙහිදී මූලික ඉලක්කය වනුයේ තවම සිංහල ජන සමාජය අතර ප්‍රකට නොවූ ග්‍රන්ථයන් පරිවර්තනය කොට ඩිජිටල් නිර්මාණයක් ලෙසින් ඔබ හමුවේ තැබීමටයි.

ඔබ මේ සම්බන්ධව ඇල්මක් දක්වනේ නම්, මෙම සමාජ සත්කාරයට ඔබේ සහයෝගය දැඩි ලෙස අපෙක්ෂා කරන අතර ඔබගේ සහභාගීත්වය ද බලාපොරොත්තු වෙමු. මෙම උත්සහයෙ උපරිම ඵල නෙලා ගන්නට හැකි වන්නේ අනාගත පරපුරට බැවින්, ඔබගේ ප්‍රතිචාරය, පෙලඹවීම හා මාර්ගෝපදේශකත්වය අප හට ඉතා වැදගත් වේ.
